MotorStorm Apocalypse - E3 2010: IGN Live: MotorStorm 3 Demo

Racing through a city as it's ripped apart isn't just visually arresting, it's a great way to introduce players to a race course that drastically changes from lap to lap. My first loop through the shattered suburbia was filled with hairpin turns and obstacles, but during the second lap the ground heaved and buildings collapsed in front of me.
There aren't just new barriers on the track, but there are new shortcuts as flat terrain can become a jump, or a wall can crumble to reveal a shortcut. And like me, you might become so entranced by the collapsing architecture that you forget to avoid the Monster truck trying to run your car off the road.

MotorStorm Apocalypse is a clever way to bring back some oomph to a series that was becoming a little dry. Adding 3D to the formula makes total sense. The area of the city I raced in was filled with falling ash, fireballs, and smoke, all of which danced across the foreground of the screen as I charged down the road. Paying attention was difficult, and launching off of a ramp into a wall was even more fun with the obstacle popping off the screen.

  1. looks cool, love racing games. looks a bit camp though :p

  2. looks like split/second velocity to me to be honest.

  3. Yea this one looks pretty sick

  4. I'll definately look into this. Looks awesome.

  5. I'm surprised there is a third one coming out. I didn't have much hope for the game when I played it around PS3 launch but I guess I'll give this one a shot!!!

  6. Should be a great game! Looking forward to its release.
