And every time Blizzard is celebrating it’s great franchises – Warcraft, World of Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo – together with the fans attending, rumors come up which great announcement Blizzard is going to make.
This year vgtribune.com is arguing that Warcraft 4 might be announced this year during the opening ceremony.
According to a “fairly trusted source”, vgtribune reports that Warcraft 4 is under development and lists what the newest sequel to Blizzards successful rts-series shall feature:
- Episodic campaign was considering – no word on what they decided.
- Thrall is “currently” in it.
- The game is planned “tentatively” for a Q4 2012 release.
- Its an RTS based on the Starcraft II engine.
- Its being considered for multiple platforms like the 360 and PS3, but DS has actually been started on.
- It now finally has a team working on it since Starcraft is out.
- Its still very early stages and the concept art looks “beautiful”.
I AM SO EXCITED FOR WC4!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe story development and gameplay better be as good as wc3 though....
wow sounds cool but how will it blend the storyline between it and wow? :S
ReplyDeletegood question seb, a while ago blizz announced that wow and warcraft will have a seperated storyline. gotta see how that works out though
ReplyDeleteThis so isnt happening
ReplyDeleteI really don't think, they already have A LOT of things to work with.
ReplyDeleteStarcraft is actually not "out" since they are working on Heart of the Swarm, scheduled for 2012 and after that it will be the time of Legacy of the Void. Releasing another RTS game before all the episodes of SC2 are out is just non-sense and they will not do it.
Then they are working on Diablo 3, supposed to be out in Q3/4 2011 and their new "super secret new generation MMORPG" that will take the place of World of Warcraft.
Nah, i bet the next big announcement will be about this secret project but it will surely not be this year, maybe the next.
The story of Warcraft is driven by World of Warcraft now and i doubt they would screw the lore making an RTS while WoW is still running.
So my guess is IF they will ever realese a new Warcraft RTS it will be AFTER the "death" of wow and AFTER all the SC2 episodes are out and this puts a possible Wacraft 4 in a VERY FAR future.
Oh yes! If its as good as Starcraft 2... uuhh!!
ReplyDeleteCould be but i don't think it will happen so soon..
ReplyDeleteawsome, love warcraft...
ReplyDeletelove warkcraft its a cool game
ReplyDeletewoot! I love warcraft, hate WOW...
ReplyDeleteWhy is it taking so much to make this game?
ReplyDeleteWould be awesome if true

ReplyDelete(Typos. They'll get me every time.)
ReplyDeleteIf this is true, would WC4 bridge a story gap between cataclysm and the next expansion, or, would it bridge the gap between the WoW and a speculative WoW2
I don't think I''l be playing... Not because I don't like Warcraft, but, because the amount of bugs in the previous games...
ReplyDeleteLike, on WC3, the mutliplayer difficulty. You could change it, but the settings wouldn't change, it was always stuck on the same difficulty (hard)... So the multiplayer game mode, was almost impossible (without cheating) to win. Me and 2 friends in rl, played a game against 1 CP, on "easy" well, we lost in about 4 minutes. Lol.
its going to take years and years and then when they finally have a realease date it's going to take years and years to finally come out
ReplyDeletedo want this one
ReplyDeleteI would be super spyched to see this happen
ReplyDeletestoked
ReplyDeleteA warcraft 4 would be superfreaking good! I loved WC3 and TFT!
ReplyDeleteI'm interested to see how they would link up the plotlines of WoW to this game. Will they have to change the geography/power relations of WoW to match WC4?
ReplyDeletewonder what video games my grandkids will be playing? wow 32?
ReplyDeleteI am not going to get my hopes up. cough cough starcraft ghost.
ReplyDeleteno flippin hamburgers way!
ReplyDeleteIs WC as good as the age of empires series???
ReplyDeleteNever played it but mite give it a try.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty into SC 2, but I wouldn't mind trying to catch up on the WarCraft storyline for a fourth installment.
ReplyDeletecoollllllllllll
ReplyDeleteim so psyched
Nahhh. I don't buy it. They've got too much going on to announce it. Unless they just say 'we think maybe we might make WC4.'
ReplyDeleteBut that would be it.
I will be amazed if this actually happens :D
ReplyDeleteGreat post! keep up the great work!
